Our battery does not hold power long, even if the machine is not in use |
Question
Our battery does not hold power long, even if the machine is not in use (fully charged and left for 2 days off the battery will be discharged completely)
Answer
You should be able to operate continuously for 6 – 7 hours using Model FFM 992. The probable cause of battery discharge is insufficient charging time.
- Are the batteries being charged for a full 12-14 hours continuously ?
- Is the RED led on charger illuminating when switched ON ?
If the answer to both questions above is… YES, then we need to check the voltage being supplied by the Charger Unit… To do this… using a voltmeter, check that the current between the pins on the connector is… ~ 13.8v DC.
As a further check… Switch Fatmeter ON, whilst holding down the left hand Button (Read / Yes Button). The Meter will enter a maintenance mode, and at the start of the 2nd line of the display there is… B = “3 digit value”. What is this value ? Note this value (this is level of battery charge in the Fatmeter).
Now, connect the Charger to Fatmeter, whilst Mains socket is switched OFF. Once connected to Fatmeter, switch ON at Mains Socket, and monitor the value of B on the Fatmeter display. This should slowly begin to rise, indicating that the Charger is charging the batteries correctly.
